Here is my 1973 CSL VIN 227 5396 at the Monterey Historic Automobile Races at Laguna Seca, August 20th, 2005.

Long before she got to that condition there was a lot of work to be done.  Here is the beginning of:

Ali's Story

This is me and my new project, a 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL.  She's one of the 500 LHD models fitted with the "town kit"; real bumpers, steel doors, and without the outrageous aerodynamics that the Batmobiles had.  While I love the aggressive look of those cars, I prefer the original body's elegance and I certainly won't be racing this car.  I've named her Ally after the wonderfully light aluminum that is used for her hood and trunk lid.  It's not the most Teutonic sounding name, but I like it.  The picture above was taken 11.10.2004 in the paint booth at Chavez Autobody in Redwood City, CA.  There my friend Luis is going to give her a new coat of Polaris Silver and hopefully sometime after that she'll be coming home to stay for good.

Here are some other pictures I took a few weeks earlier.

I have a couple other serious projects to deal with right now, but I'm happy to be a CSL owner, and looking forward to sharing her rebirth with you here on the website.  Stay tuned for much more as this story unfolds.
